The original design is an ancient Vietnamese percussion instrument. Hand crafted from a single piece of wood, either monkey pod or tamarind. Both trees are non-endangered, tropical fruit woods. The size of the hollowed cavern and the density of the wood determine how deep the frog sounds. Because they are each hand carved, frogs similar in sound will have different sounds. To make it croak, hold the frog by the hind legs, so the front can vibrate, then stroke with the large end of the mallet from the base of the spiky spine up to the head. Handcrafted in Thailand.
